Welcome to Benny’s Backyard! We are the engineering club here at CCNY!

Here at Benny’s Backyard, our focus is to bring people together through a common interest and desire to pursue engineering.

We aim to unite, support and encourage people aiming to pursue engineering and its many different subcategories and disciplines.

Engineering does not refer to any single specific profession or discipline, but rather is an umbrella term used to refer to a diverse range of professions that are chiefly concerned with the design, building, and use of engines, machines and structures.

Engineering encompasses so many different, more specific fields.

Some of the popular types of engineering are as follows:

• civil engineering
• chemical engineering
• electrical engineering
• industrial engineering

But Why?

Engineering is an incredibly important part of your day to day life, even if you don’t yet realize it. If you think about any aspect of your life, whether it be the technology you use, the cars or public transit you use to get around, the architecture and buildings around you, they were all designed and made by engineers who had to figure out a way to design that specific thing. Once you notice the ways in which the things around us are so thoughtfully engineered to make them as useful as possible, it becomes impossible to unsee the connection between engineering and our daily lives. That is why Benny’s Backyard exists: to foster this connection between daily life and the disciplines of engineering. Our mission statement is to unite people through a shared love of engineering, and provide people with a venue to express their love and creativity.
